Back to: The Initiate’s Path: Block 0
As you go through the lessons, most will need some kind of journal entry to count towards your Initiate rank. Very few will be simple find, read, and repeat. I don’t find those kind of questions helpful in most situations and feel like they’re simply busy work. We tried to design this to both inspire thought, and offer questions that could be answered in your own way, to your best benefit. This is one of those “you get what you put in” kind of courses.
If you look up, use, or quote other places, please use citations for any work that isn’t your own. Plagiarism is a personal hot topic for me. I will not tolerate or appreciate finding that you aren’t doing your own work. This is a pretty hard-line for me. I’m not looking for collage level citations, simply pasting the link or mentioning the author or book is perfectly acceptable. Or if you like the organization of a professional citation, you can use the APA or other format of your choice.
What we absolutely do NOT want, is for you to simply agree with everything we put across your screen. If you do, then that’s great! (and tell us why!) If not, by all means, you won’t be ridiculed for it. You might get Knights asking questions to understand what you’re telling us, but it’s a conversation, not a beating.
If you’ll notice, right in the Foundation lessons, you’ll find a lesson on Critical Thinking and other thinking styles. They’re directly after “how to learn”. That’s how much we value those who discern information.
Although the Knights can use your journal to get to know you better, first and foremost, you journal is for YOU. There is no time limit or specific time frame you “should” get this done with. Life is as it is. We will never ask you to sacrifice what’s going on in “the real world” just to get some pixels from you.
There is no “wrong” way to create your journal. A lot of people like to put their day to day musings in with their TIP lessons. It can be interesting to see how the TIP applies to your life. We just ask that you tag TIP in your forum post so we can find it easily upon grading. Others stick just to the TIP and open a personal journal. The only way you can be “wrong” in the TIP is if you skip lessons, or veer completely off the point. You’re welcome to write as little or as much as you’d like, as long as the points of the lesson are fulfilled. Again, I’m not one to force work for the sake of work. Your time is valuable, it’s usually your most scarce resource.
With that in mind, here’s the questions for this lesson!
What are your expectations for The Initiate’s Path? What are you hoping to accomplish?
