Whelp Im glad to be back after I made a mess of our first forum build. I am MadHatter. Mostly called Hatter. I've been in the community since 2015 and have been a Knight since 2017. I helped found the Jedi Conclave with Kit, Arisaig, and the rest of our founding Knights.
I am a US-based Jedi that is a military veteran with a bit of world travel under by belt during my enlistment in the US Navy.
I am a Jedi by faith and philosophy so I call my path Jediism. But to quote sifu Lee
“Jeet Kune Do: it’s just a name; don’t fuss over it. There’s no such thing as a style if you understand the roots of combat.”
As such its my belief if you understand the roots of what it is to be a Jedi its not much to fuss over what you choose to call it.
My favorite philosophers come from Objectivist and Stoic paths. But I prefer to call myself a pop culture Jedi as most of my lessons come from pop culture rather then dusty tombs.
My favorite saber style is Makashi though I am very much a novice in saber craft. I am on this path to help give others the tools that helped me grow and find my center at a time when I was very lost. So I am open to any questions you might have.

What would you say is the primary philosophy of Makashi?

Makashi has two methods of handling matters. Either to thrust directly to the heart of the matter or to whittle away at it bit by bit. It's a style of elegance and refinement requiring control and focus. So it's not one to lead to over-extending oneself in debate or argument or nor should you devolve to crass or brutish methods of attack/debate
In short, the philosophy of the cut and thrust style is to elegantly dismantle things in one swift move or in tiny bits. It will find victory and understanding in control and economy of effort/movement.
